About Faye
Faye Landrum is a retired registered nurse, and she has been a freelance writer since 1969.
Her work has been published in more than 300 Christian and secular publications for children and adults,
and she is the author/co-author of six books:
Faye started writing when she was 10 years old.
At age 12, she wrote her first book, typing it with only her left hand
because her right arm was in a cast resulting from an accident.
Writing has always held an important place in her life, but she is also a registered nurse,
a mother, and now a grandmother.
After graduating from Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing, she worked as a public
health nurse for two years before going to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.
There she earned a degree in English. It was while she was at the University that she became a
Christian.
"I had gone to church all my life," Faye says, "But church-going was just a weekly habit.
It was as much a routine as brushing my teeth."
When she earned a scholarship writing for the college newspaper, she met students who had a
special zest for living. She started attending school functions with these students and found
that their joy came from a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
"During a Christian weekend retreat in the North Carolina mountains, I asked Jesus to come
into my heart," Faye relates. "I completely surrendered my life to his Lordship.
That was when I discovered the same joy that others had shown me. Things still go wrong,
but facing them is much easier with Jesus beside me. Now attending church is no longer a
'routine function'; it's an opportunity to share a special time with Jesus."
After graduation, the author married Bob Landrum and moved to Akron, Ohio.
She worked as an office-surgical nurse for an eye, ear, nose and throat doctor until their
sons, Steve and Gary, were born. She continued working part-time at area hospitals until
retirement.
Steve and his family live in Plymouth, Michigan. Gary and his family live a half-mile
from Faye in Pataskala, Ohio. Bob died on his 68th birthday in 1994 from bone cancer.
